I sought to produce a set of images that had strong form and shape; I wanted body parts and faces to merge in and out of the darkness.

What I’m most proud of in this series of photos is being able to capture their personalities. A young single mum who loves her son and is trying her best, but there is an air of something quite sinister about these images. I wanted them to be very different to the average portraits of a mother and son, but to be a darker blurred take on their relationship.
